BROWN BAG MINISTRY

The Brown Bag ministry through G.O. Community Development Corp. developed in January 2016 when the three Presbyterian Churches, First, Trinity and  East Side, agreed to coordinate an outreach program to aid in combating hunger in our area for children.

On the second Friday of each month at 10:00 am, volunteers from each Church meet at Trinity and fill 90 brown bags with food items such as bologna or ham sandwiches, cookies, fruit, juice and chips and deliver them to the G.O ministry site on Station Avenue which distributes the bags at the Friday evening hot meal program so that children, which comprise 40% of the people being served, will have a meal on the weekend.

This outreach program has brought the volunteers from the three churches closer together and the fellowship and service we share has returned many blessings to us as we serve our Lord.

STUFFED ANIMAL MINISTRY

The stuffed animals found in the pews are donated and expected to be taken to those who need our love.  They have heard scriptures read, sermons preached and prayers prayed.  Each knows both the joys and heartaches of our people and has been surrounded by the love so freely shared by our community of faith.  Feel free to donate other animals or take a stuffed animal to someone you know that just needs a hug.  For those who are visiting us with children, we encourage you to allow your children to take an animal so that they can remember this visit with us.

PRAYER SHAWL MISSION…The Knitting Ministry at East Side Presbyterian Church is reaching out to others through the distribution of Prayer Shawls which are currently being knitted by the members.  These shawls are meant to be a mantle of caring, healing and strength for the recipient, to enfold and embrace as this person heals from illness, sorrow and other problems they are encountering. It will serve as a reminder that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many in hopes that you will receive comfort, peace and love through this gift.

The distribution of the shawls will be handled through the Board of Deacons. Contact your Deacon if a member of your family or someone you know would benefit from this mission.

Anyone wishing to contribute to this project can contact a member of the Knitting Ministry.

FOOD PANTRY….on the first Sunday of every month we collect canned goods or dry foods for the Faith Food Pantry.  Please bring items to church with you so that we may help meet the tremendous needs in Ashtabula to feed those less fortunate.  The pantry shelves run low very quickly and every little bit helps keep them stocked.  These items will then be picked up on the following Tuesday and delivered to the pantry. Thank you for all your help!
