I am honored and delighted to be serving as the Interim Pastor for East Side Presbyterian Church. I have been greatly impressed with the energy and enthusiasm of the people at East Side. They have a heart for worshiping God and serving others in the name of Christ.

My wife, Jenni, and I met while attending Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Kentucky and were married in October 2004. After graduation, we moved to Iowa. While there, our son, Isaac, was born. We then moved to Wisconsin and served different churches as pastor and interim pastor. We moved to the Southern Indiana area in August of 2013 so that I could participate in the one-year Chaplain Residency Program at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.  After my one year residency, I served as a full time Chaplain at St. Mary's Medical Center, a 400 bed Trauma II Acute Care Hospial in Evansville.   In August of 2015, my wife received a call to serve as the pastor of Heritage Presbyterian Church in Amherst, Ohio. In addition to my call as interim pastor at East Side, I also service as the Associate Chaplain at Ohio Living Breckenridge Village in Willoughby, Ohio.

I enjoy camping, walking, fly-fishing, golf, tennis and gardening.  I have a private pilot's license and enjoy flying Cessna 172 aircraft.  However, my greatest joy is spending time with my family. This fall, Isaac begins third grade at Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City Schools and both Jenni and I are enjoying watching him grow and learn. He has finished his first year of Little League and recently earned his Cubscout Bear Badge.

I am the oldest of 5 children. My brother, Tim, and I were born in Evansville, Indiana. Soon after Tim’s birth, we moved to Paducah, Kentucky where my dad, Jack, worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative and in various state and non-profit emergency medical programs before his retirement in 1990.  My mom, Glenda, was a stay-at-home mom for a number of years, busy raising Tim, me, and our siblings, Greg, Beth, and Eric. She was very involved with the Presbyterian churches in Paducah and we all participated in the life of the church.

Before the ministry, my first career was in the area of early childhood development. I graduated from Western Kentucky University with a BA in Psychology and MA in Child Development and Family Living. I have worked extensively with infants, toddlers and preschoolers including those with a wide range of mental and physical challenges.  Before entering seminary, I worked for the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a director and coordinator of various programs related to early childhood development including licensed and regulated childcare and Head Start.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are all called to serve others. Together, we can truly follow the words of Jesus in the Gospel according to Matthew: "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me" and in the Gospel according to John: "Love one another, just as I have loved you."

I invite you to join us each Sunday in worship at East Side and to particpate in the spritual adventure and missions that abound within our community of faith.

Grace, Peace and Prayers,

Pastor Kurt :}
